Zyklon B
Zyklon B was the tradename of an insecticide ultimately used by Nazi Germany during the Holocaust to kill millions of people. It is pronounced as (tsʏkloːn ˈbeː) and alternately refered to as Cyclon B due to its cyanide components. It consisted of a hydrocyanic acid (prussic acid), a stabilizer, and a warning odorant that were impregnated onto various substrates, typically small absorbant pellets, fiber discs, or diatomaceous earth. When exposed to air, the substrates evolved gaseous hydrogen cyanide (HCN) once removed from their airtight containers. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
