Zedek

Zedek or Tzedek, West Semitic for "Justice", was probably the name of the chief god of the Jebusites, and possibly of other Canaanite people. He is mentioned in the Tanakh and in other Middle Eastern writings in conjunction with such Jebusite names as Melchizedek ("My king is Zedek") and Adonizedek (My Lord is Zedek). Some writers have speculated about a connection between Zedek and the planet Jupiter; however, such speculation is not based on any extant archaeological evidence, but rather on the fact that current Jewish astrologers use the name Tzedek when referring to the planet Jupiter.

Zedek, as worshipped by the Jebusites, may have been identical with El or even YHWH.

Other writers say that El should be identified with the planet Saturn instead of Jupiter, since Saturn is higher or more el-evated in the sky, and further away from the Earth. Saturn/El, if they are to be considered the same god/planet, has a period of revolution around the Sun of around 28 years, verses the 12-year period of the planet Jupiter.

Some writers claim that the 12-year period of Jupiter is related to the 12-man juries that are common in several modern courts of law. Ancient Romans swore to Jove/Jupiter when they took oaths in their courts of law, much like people today swear on the Bible. It's common to see "so help me God," instead of "so help me Zedek," or "so help me Jove." In fact, Jove is just another name for the planet Jupiter, and is still seen today in the saying "By Jove" when people swear upon something spectacular or unbelieveable, and in the description of the planet Jupiter being considered the Jovian planet by modern astronomers.
