Zanesville is a city located in Muskingum County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 25,586. It is the county seat of Muskingum County{{GR|6}}.

Zanesville was settled in 1797 by Ebenezer Zane (Who lent his name to the town) and his son in law, John McIntire. Novelist Zane Grey was a descendant of the Zane family and was born in Zanesville.
