Young Americans (television series)

Young Americans was an American television drama on The WB network that debuted as a summer replacement in 2000. It was created by Stephen Antin, an actor (The Goonies, The Accused) turned writer.

The show was set in the town of New Rawley at a tiny boarding school, Rawley Academy. The lead was Will Krudski (Rodney Scott), who cheated on the entrance exam to gain admission. Mark Famiglietti played Scout Calhoun. Katherine Moennig was masquerading as a boy, Jake Pratt. Kate Bosworth was Bella Banks, a pretty townie all the boys lusted after. Ian Somerhalder was another student at the school, Hamilton Fleming .

It was a "semi-spinoff" of Dawson's Creek, also produced by Columbia TriStar Television, by having its lead introduced in three episodes at the end of that series's third season. Young Americans occupied Dawson's Creeks timeslot of Wednesdays at 8 P.M. when that show went on hiatus in the summer of 2000. Repeats were shown at 8 P.M. on Fridays. Greg Berlanti, a writer and producer on Dawson's Creek, also wrote for the show.
