The Yaqui call themselves "Yoeme," the Yaqui word for person ("yoemem" or "yo'emem" meaning "people"). The Yaqui call their homeland "Hiakim," from which the name "Yaqui" is derived. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
