Yangzhou
Yangzhou ({{zh-stp|s=扬州|t=揚州|p=Yángzhōu}}) is a city in Jiangsu province, China. It is situated on the north bank of the Yangtze River, opposite the city of Zhenjiang.
History
A History of 2480 years, founded in Chunqiu Period; a leading economic and cultural center and major port of foreign trade and external exchange since Tang Dynasty reached her peak in early Qing Dynasty as a major trade exchange for salt, a government regulated commodity. She faded off and turned into a average sized township after the emergence of the railways, which replaced the Jinhang canal as the transport lifeline.
