X-Change is a Japanese hentai game produced by Crowd and distributed in English by Peach Princess. So far, there have been four versions released in Japan, the first three of which are available in English. The fourth game, called Yin-Yang! X-Change Alternative has been released in Japan, taking place in an alternative universe with a different cast of characters. In addition, re-releases of the first two games with additional characters and improved graphics are available in Japan, titled XchangeR and Xchange2R.

In the first game, by having a chemical spill on him in lab class, Takuya Aihara, a male junior college student whom the player controls, somehow ends up turning into a woman. The ultimate goal is to find a way to turn him back into a man and reunite with the girl of your choice. The best ending is usually reuniting with Takuya's old girlfriend, Asuka Katagiri, but there are other "good" endings as well. The game is notorious for its "rape-bus" scenes, where Takuya ends up riding a public bus and getting raped. The "bad endings" usually involve Takuya deciding to remain a female due to pleasure he experiences during an encounter that should have been avoided.

In the second game, you play again as Takuya. A machine you enter designed by Chisato Kawahara, an inquisitive scientist and your junior in the chemistry club, which was supposed to increase your strength and intelligence somehow turns you into a girl instead. Once again, you must try to make the right choices to end up back to normal. This game features some new characters, such as Maiko Nagata, a girl who is the target of unwanted affection by many perverted guys, which has made her turn to lesbianism for love and support. This is the only way to get a "good" ending and still remain female, but there is an ending with her as a guy as well. Megumi Fujieda is a quiet girl who secretly loves the male Takuya, and she confides her love for your male self to you unsuspectingly while you are still in female form.

In the third game, Kōji, a male student you had an encounter with in the first game, still trying to get your female persona in the sack, secretly gets Asami Satoh to whip up some of the sex-change potion and tricks you into drinking it. This game is the first in the series to be released on DVD-ROM.

The idea seems to be an attempt to appeal to fans of manga like Ranma 1/2, which also involves gender-switching as a theme, though without being obscene.
