Wybersley Hall
Wybersley Hall is a large house dating from the sixteenth century, and situated near the hamlet of Turf Lea near Stockport, Manchester, UK. Now in private ownership, Wybersley Hall was formerly the home of eldest sons of the Bradshaw family. Of unusual design, it has castellated gables with a rather ungainly castellated wall between them, above the main entrance. Hardly a handsome house but an historic one. As Wybersley Hall was rented from the Stanley family before Marple Hall was purchased in 1606, it is likely that John Bradshaw was born there in 1602. More recently, the author Christopher Isherwood was born there.
