Würzburg is a city in the region of Franconia which lies in the northern tip of Bavaria, Germany. Located on the Main river, it is the capital of the Regierungsbezirk Unterfranken. The regional dialect spoken by people in Würzburg is Franconian. X-rays were discovered at the University in this city in 1895.

Würzburg is approximately 90 minutes train journey from Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Depending on the construction and Stau, it is a four hour drive from Frankfurt. It is also approximately 100km from Nürnberg, the site of the 1945 war crimes trials.
