Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame ("WON HOF" for short) only exists on paper, but nonetheless is considered one of the highest honors that professional wrestling has to offer.

Unlike other forms of "sports entertainment" such as baseball and basketball, wrestling does not otherwise have a Hall of Fame that is voted on by a panel of experts who are independent of any of the sport's governing organizations. This is the role that the WON HOF fills.

In 1996, Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer chose a large class of initial "inductees". Since then, the newsletter regarded as the premier source of "inside" wrestling information has held an annual poll of insiders and pro wrestlers (that Meltzer chooses) to determine each year's new inductions. The mechanism of the voting ensures that wrestling personalities from the United States, Japan, Mexico and elsewhere will all receive fair representation.
