Working title

A working title is the temporary name of a product or project used during its development. Although a working title may be kept as the final title, the assumption is that a working title will be changed before the actual release of the project.

Working titles are often used for films, video games and music album development. For example, the working title of the video game Shenmue was Project Berkeley.

One pop culture entity that went through numerous working titles was George Lucas' '. Several early drafts were titled Adventures of the Starkiller (Episode One), The Star Wars, The Adventures of Luke Starkiller (Episode One) The Star Wars and The Adventures of Luke Starkiller, As Taken from 'The Journal of the Whills' (Saga 1) Star Wars.
