Woolton

Woolton is a suburban area of South Liverpool, England. It is a prestigious middle class suburb consisting of large houses. The area was referred to as Uluentune in the Domesday Book. Perhaps its biggest claim to fame is that Paul McCartney and John Lennon met here for the first time. Many Beatles landmarks can be found in Woolton including Mendips (Lennon's childhood home at 251 Menlove Avenue), Strawberry Field, the grave of Eleanor Rigby in St Peter's Churchyard and The church hall of St Peter's (both situated in Church Road) where Lennon and McCartney first met.
