Wolfeboro is a town located in Carroll County, New Hampshire. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 6,083. Incorporated in 1770, it was named in honor of British General James Wolfe.

Situated beside Lake Winnipesaukee, Wolfeboro is a popular summer destination for families from Boston and Southern New Hampshire. The self-appointed town nickname “The Oldest Summer Resort in America” indicates its long history as a seasonal retreat. Recently, it has also become a popular year-round home for many seeking an idyllic, small town existence. Its downtown is picturesque, with small shops lining the main street and large public docks on the lake shore. Wolfeboro is home to Brewster Academy, a private preparatory school.
