Wolf's Head
Wolf's Head is the third oldest secret society at Yale University. It was founded in 1883 in reaction to Skull and Bones and Scroll and Key. The society's original tomb was located on Prospect Street, but it moved in the 1920's as Yale's campus began to change. Wolf's Head's current tomb is the largest of the older societies and is located on York Street, in New Haven, Connecticut. Tax returns show that it is also one of the richest senior societies at Yale. Notable members include Charles Edward Ives, who is widely regarded as one of the first American classical composers of international significance, and Benno C. Schmidt, Jr., president of Yale University from 1986 to 1992 and a former dean of Columbia University Law School.
