Winnipeg, Manitoba

Located in Western Canada, Winnipeg plays a prominent role in transportation, finance, manufacturing, agriculture and education. It is known as the Gateway to the West.

Winnipeg Bear
- Winnipeg Bear, the inspiration for Winnie-the-Pooh. Winnipeg wasn't actually born in Winnipeg, but was purchased in White River, Ontario, by an officer of the Fort Garry Horse cavalry regiment en route to his embarkation point for the front lines of World War I. He named the bear after the regiment's home town.
