Winnetka is a village located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 12,419.

It is the childhood home of Donald Rumsfeld, the current US Secretary of Defense. It is also the place of birth of the late actor Rock Hudson, who died of AIDS in 1985. Winnetka was also the setting for the television drama Sisters and the first two Home Alone movies. Parts of Uncle Buck and Ferris Bueller's Day Off were also fimled in Winnketa, which is a suburb of Chicago.
