Windtalkers
Windtalkers is a 2002 film directed by John Woo. Nicolas Cage and Christian Slater star as Marine sergeants assigned to protect two Navajo Marine code talkers in the battle of Saipan. These codetalkers were used because of their unique native language which the Japanese forces could not decipher. However, the Marines are ordered to kill the code talkers should they face capture by the enemy, and it isn't long before they are faced with this difficult decision.

The film reportedly cost over $100 million, but made only $40,914,068 at the US box-office and only $70 million worldwide. The film's release was delayed multiple times and was heavily savaged by critics upon its final release for shamelessly recycling war movie clichés, focusing more on violence and Cage than on the Navajo code talkers, ham acting by Cage, and amateurish, camera-conscious performances by the code talkers (some of whom were played by Navajo-Americans with no prior acting experience).
