William McKinley (January 29, 1843 – September 14, 1901) was the 25th President of the United States, from 1897 until his assassination in 1901. His term is remembered for expanding the territories and colonies of the United States through a period of great expansion and conquest, including the annexation of Cuba, the Philippines and Wake Island following the Spanish-American War, and the acquisition of Hawaii by the U.S..
