His term is remembered for expanding the territories and colonies of the United States through a period of great expansion and conquest, including the annexation of Cuba, the Philippines and Wake Island following the Spanish-American War, and the acquisition of Hawaii by the U.S.. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
