Whitman, Massachusetts
Whitman is a town located in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 13,882.
History
Whitman was first settled in 1670 and was officially incorporated in 1875. In the 1930s, Ruth Graves Wakefield invented chocolate chip cookies near Whitman at the Toll House Inn along the road between Boston and New Bedford.
