Westport Country Playhouse
The Westport Country Playhouse is a theatre in Westport, Connecticut, founded in 1930 by Lawrence Langner and his wife.
History
When it was issued to be transformed into a theatre, the playhouse was a 100-year-old barn in an apple orchard in what was then the fringes of Westport. According to the playhouse history statement, written by James McKenzie, the designer Cleon Throckmorton was commissioned to transform the interior of the barn, by then a tanning factory, into a theatre.
