Westlake Village, California
Westlake Village is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 8,368. It is often confused with the Los Angeles district of Westlake.

Westlake Village is a planned community built around a manmade lake straddling the Los Angeles-Ventura county line. Construction began in 1966, and the city incorporated in 1981. Much of the original community is actually in the city of Thousand Oaks in Ventura County, and the population and land area figures quoted below apply only to the Los Angeles County portions of the city.

The city is known for its affluence and secluded character, and is one of the wealthiest communities in Greater Los Angeles. In addition to its role as a bedroom community for Los Angeles via the Ventura Freeway, it is also home to many large commercial offices and the headquarters of the Dole Food Company and Guitar Center.
