The word western is an adjective used to refer to things that are in the West. It also has a number of more specific meanings:
Entertainment
- The Western is a literary and dramatic genre found in books, films, paintings, and television and radio programs throughout the 20th century. It is characterized by its setting: the Old West of the United States, usually in the era c.1860–1900. For more specific articles, see:
- Western is sometimes synonymous with Country music, due to the older name Country and Western.
