Each year, over seven million tourists flock there as part of their trip to the city. In the 1800s, a trading post sat near what is now the West End. In July of 1872, the Houston & Texas Central Railroad came to town. The West End really became known in the 1960s when President John F. Kennedy was shot in Dealey Plaza. In the 1970s, the City of Dallas made the West End a historic landmark. The old warehouses were preserved and give the area a unique look.
