During this period, WERE was the flagship station for Cleveland Indians broadcasts. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In the 1970s, WERE adopted a talk radio format, with controversial hosts, such as Gary Dee, Merle Pollis and Joel Rose. The station used the nickname "People Power." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In recent years, WERE has developed into station featuring mostly brokered programs, in which a radio producer purchases time from the station, and then produces the program and sells commercials and keeps the profit.
