Wellsville is a village located in Allegany County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 5,171. Some claim that the name is derived from the oil wells, which became an important feature in the area.

The Village of Wellsville is in the Town of Wellsville. Alfred State College maintains a branch by the south end of the village. Wellsville Airport, to the west of the village, provides general aviation and charter services.
