Wavre


 
 

Wavre is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant, of which it is the capital. On January 1 2005 Wavre had a total population of 32,023. The total area is 41.80 km² which gives a population density of 766.03 inhabitants per km².

Wavre is the location of a broadcasting facility for shortwave, medium wave, FM and TV of the Belgian broadcasting society. As aerial for medium wave a guyed steel framework mast is used.

The aerials for FM and TV are on a free standing lattice tower. On October 13 1983 a storm destroyed the main transmission mast for TV transmission.
