Waterford Crystal is the Trade Mark for a type of crystal glassware produced in Waterford, Ireland, by the Company Waterford Crystal. The business was founded in 1793 by George and William Penrose. Their company closed, reportedly due to excessive taxation of the product. In 1947, the company was restarted due to the fine reputation of the original glassware.
