The War of the Worlds television series ran for two seasons, from October of 1988 to May of 1990. It was an extension of the 1953 War of the Worlds movie.

The first season of the series officially comes to DVD on November 1, 2005, (the same date in which the 1953 film is re-released), ending complaints from fans for a long-standing belief that Paramount had disowned the series since the show ended its original run.
