Walter Schreifels

Walter Schreifels is a rock musician and producer from New York City. In the late 80s, he played in many New York hardcore bands, most notably Youth Of Today and Gorilla Biscuits, the latter of which he was also the main songwriter for. After Gorilla Biscuits broke up, he formed the more metal oriented, but quintessential post-hardcore band Quicksand, and later the melodic indie rock-styled band Rival Schools. During the 90s, he also collaborated with his former Gorilla Biscuits bandmates in the pop-punk band CIV, on the album "Set Your Goals," writing most of their songs, but remaining uncredited. His current project, Walking Concert, is heavily influenced by classic Britpop, such as Elvis Costello, The Kinks, and The Smiths. He has produced albums by Hot Water Music, The First Step, and other hardcore related bands, and is part owner of a record label called Some Records.
