Prisons
Wakefield is less celebrated but nevertheless well known for its prisons. HMP Wakefield is the most high-security in the whole of Britain, and has included many famous inmates including Ian Huntley, Harold Shipman and Charles Bronson. The nearby HMP New Hall is a multi-use prison for women, young female offenders and girls on Detention and Training Orders (DTOs).
