WAAF has been instumental in helping several local bands achieve success, including Godsmack, The Dropkick Murphys and Pist.on, who even thanked them in the liner notes on their debut album. They received an award for promoting small local bands from a radio industry's insider's magazine. They have had a number of prominent bands perform accoustically in their studio. These performances are aired on the radio live, as well as being placed on their website in Real Audio format. The band Shinedown recorded an aucoustic version of "Simple Man" that was so popular it inspired them to put near identical version on the re-release of their album Leave A Whisper.
