Vorta

The Vorta are a fictional humanoid species in Star Trek.

The Vorta were created to serve the Founders of the Dominion in administrative tasks. They are typically employed as diplomats or as officers charged with managing Jem'Hadar battalions. They worship the Founders as gods.

Vorta are bipedal mammals. They are white with black hair and lilac eyes. They have good hearing, poor eyesight, and are immune to most forms of poison. The Vorta also have a very poorly developed sense of taste. About the only things they can taste are certain food items from their homeworlds.

The Vorta mainly reproduce by cloning. It is believed that the Vorta loyalty to the Founders is genetic - that the loyalty had been built into their genetic makeup by the Founders. Unlike the all-male also cloned race of Jem'Hadar, there are both male and female Vorta, though it's unclear if they could still reproduce through sexual reproduction. As the Vorta serve as the diplomats and ambassadors of the Dominion, the presence of female Vorta may have been kept for use in diplomatic manipulations during negotiation. One single telekinetic Vorta has been seen, but it is believed that this was an exception.
