Vladimir Sofronitsky
Vladimir Sofronitsky (May 8/April 25, 1901–August 26, 1961) is a Russian pianist and a pupil, follower, and son-in-law to Alexander Scriabin. His interpretations of Scriabin's music are unparalleled. Few of his recordings are available in the West. One noteworthy recording, in the BMG "Russian Piano School" series, contains a complete concert, including a wonderful, dreamy, mercurial account of Robert Schumann's Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 11.
