Nazor acquired much literary popularity in Croatia writing about folk legends and stories. One of his main works is the extensive novel Pastir Loda (the Shepherd Loda). The work describes the history of his native island of Bra? told by Loda, a faun, one of the last of its kind on this island. The tale Veli Jo?e is also popular: it features a helpful and good-natured giant Jo?e in the area around the town of Motovun (inner Istria).
