Visoko
Visoko is a city in central Bosnia and Herzegovina with approx. 50,000 residents in the municipality. The city is especially famous for its leather industry. It is located on the road between Zenica and Sarajevo. Visoko lies on the Bosna river, where the Fojni?ka river merges into it. It is administratively part of the Zenica-Doboj Canton of the Federation.
History
In the Middle Ages, Visoko was the social, economic and political capital of Bosnia, earning it the title of a royal town. The city is first mentioned in 1355 in a chart made for Dubrovnik merchants by ban Kulin.

Visoko was a center of the Bosnian Church with the bishop placed in Biskupici area 4 km away from Visoko. The name Visoko is a new name for the town, old name was Visoki, and it means "high place" because the king's town was on top of the nearby montain Viso?ica. Urban city is located below, and named Podvisoki ("under the high").

All trade from Visoko to Dubrovnik was starting in Podvisoki: salt from Soli (now Tuzla), iron from Vare? and leather from Visoko.
