Vision of Love
"Vision of Love" is a single by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, the first from her debut album Mariah Carey. The single was released in the second quarter of 1990 in the United States, and in the third quarter of 1990 internationally (see 1990 in music). It was co-written by Carey and Ben Margulies and produced by Rhett Lawrence, with some post-production work by Narada Michael Walden. Carey had fought to co-produce the song, but was denied permission by Sony Music, her record label at the time. The song contains an almost science fiction-like intro leading into Carey's vocal performance, finally climaxing with a section at the bridge of the song (which is even more exaggerated to the point of absolute silence in live performances).

The song's lyrics describe having a "vision of love", and of being eternally grateful not to a lover, but to God; it also describes the realisation of Carey's dreams as a singer. Although not as much as some of her other songs, "Vision of Love" is considered to be one of Carey's signature songs by many, with critics and reviewers often praising it as one of her better efforts.http://top40.about.com/od/reviews/gr/mcareyfirst.htm Its impact on worldwide charts was very large for a debut single, topping the U.S. charts and becoming very successful in numerous other markets.
