Vilayat Khan
Vilayat Khan (Bangla: ???????? ???) (August 8 1928–March 13 2004) was an Indian virtuoso sitar maestro. He was born in Gauripur, now in Bangladesh.

Ustad (Maestro) Vilayat Khan is widely regarded as one of the most influential sitarists of the twentieth-century, celebrated for his "gayaki ang", or "singing style" of playing.

He hailed from a long lineage of musicians which has come to be known as the Imdadkhani or Etawah Gharana (School). His grandfather, Imdad Khan, and his father, Enayet Khan, were recognized as leading instrumentalists of their time. After his father's death he continued his training under his maternal grandfather, Bande Hussain Khan; maternal uncle, Zinda Hussain Khan and his paternal uncle, Ustad Waheed Khan.

At his peak as a sitar player, he was a creative innovator and a gifted virtuoso.
