Venus Swimwear

Venus Swimwear is a mailorder retail outlet. It claims to be the world's largest retailer of junior swimwear.

The Company started in 1985. It is an outgrowh of Titan Bodybuilding, a mail-order company specializing in competitive bodybuilding suits launched by then-college senior Daryle Scott in 1982. Scott and three of his friends invested $5,000 each into the new venture, which operated out of his Jacksonville, Florida apartment at first. In 1984, he formed Venus Bodywear, selling ladies' leotards and exercise apparel, and in 1985, added Venus Swimwear.

The Company has sponsored bikini competitions for women around the US every year to seek out spokesmodels with beautiful faces and shapely figures for their swimwear. Many winners have since appeared in Venus Swimwear catalogs, they have also been modelling for other advertizing campaigns, swimsuit and lingerie catalogs. Some of the winners have posed nude in the pages of Playboy.

In 1999, Venus Swimwear acquired the mail-order apparel company WinterSilks, expanding its fall/winter market.
