Venerable (Buddhism)
The title of Venerable is the title given to ordained Buddhist monks or nuns. In the Theravadan tradition the title venerable is given to ordained monks. It is a comparable title to Reverend. Some Mahayana sects also use the title of venerable for monks. The title of master may be followed after monks who have achieved a high level of cultivation.
