Vejen

Vejen is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Ribe County on the Jutland peninsula in south Denmark. he municipality covers an area of 244 km?, and has a total population of 16,985 (2005). Its mayor is Regnar Busk, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

By January 1, 2007 Vejen municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), be merged with existing Br?rup, Holsted, and R?dding municipalities to form the new Vejen municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 817 km? and a total population of 41,350 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
