Vasojevici


 

The Vasojevic tribe is one of the biggest Serbian clans, populates area between Vjetarnih near Bjelo Polje and Matesevo to Plav.

History

The earliest known mention of the Vasojevici tribe is in in middle ages of Serbian history, after the fall of Nemanjic's Empire.

According to legend, (that was passing through generations and generations), Vasoje was the founder of the Vasojevici tribe. He lived in Nemanjic's age, and Vaso (who moved to Lijeva Rijeka) who is officially ancestor of the tribe grandchild of Vasoje. Vaso is relative Nemanjic dynasty. He is considered as descendant of Vukan Nemanjic (oldest son of Stefan Nemanja - founder of Old Serbian State). Vukan Nemanjic's son was Kostadin, Kostadin's son was Vasoje, Vasoje's son was Stevan, Stevan's son was Kostadin the Second, and Kostadin's son was Vaso. Stevan Vasojevic was Kosovo Duke, and is mentioned in old songs about the battle of Kosovo.

Vaso had four brothers: Pipo, Ozro, Kraso, and Oto. They were ancestors of Serbian tribes Piperi, and Ozrinici, and Albanian tribes Krasnici and Hoti.

English Consul for Sandzak, Novi Pazar, and Bosnia Nikola Vasojevic has written is his book about Vasojevici. His books were printed is French. He says he has historical evidences that Vasojevici are descendants of Kings from old Slavs dinasty that ruled over Dalmaty, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Albania until 1160.
