Valparaiso, Indiana
Valparaiso is a city located in Porter County, Indiana, USA. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 27,428. The city is the county seat of Porter County{{GR|6}}. Until 1991 it was the terminal of Amtrak's Calumet commuter service.
Culture
- Valparaiso is probably best known as the site of Valparaiso University and home of NCAA basketball legend Bryce Drew.
- The town's annual festival is the Popcorn Fest, held on the first Saturday after Labor Day. It honors Orville Redenbacher, a former resident who built a popcorn factory there.
- The Taltree Arboretum and Gardens is worth a visit.
