Valet
![]() A valet or gentleman's gentleman is a man's male servant. The valet performs personal chores such as maintaining his employer's clothes, running a bath and perhaps (but especially in the past) shaving his employer. In a great house, the master of the house had his own valet but in a smaller residence the butler might double as his employer's valet. In a bachelor's residence, the valet might perform light housekeeping chores as well. Valets, like butlers, have become relatively rare, and a more common—though still infrequently found arrangement—is the general servant performing both roles. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
