Uxbridge


 
 

Uxbridge is a place in the London Borough of Hillingdon in west London. It is a suburban development situated 15.5 miles (25 km) west of Charing Cross.

The name is derived from "Wuxen Bridge" which was likely to have been near the bottom of Oxford Road where the "Swan and Bottle" now stands. The Wuxen were a seventh-century people/">Saxon tribe.

Located in Uxbridge are the european headquarters of Xerox, Herbalife Europe Ltd and the Anadarko Algeria Oil Company. Other employers include Unisys, Coca-Cola, the world-famous health-care consultancy company PAREXEL, including the Drug Development Consultancy Practice of PAREXEL Consulting, Heinz and Brunel University.
