~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The ship's crew also includes several characters from other Star Trek television shows and novels such as Riker's wife, Commander Deanna Troi, the head counselor and diplomatic officer; Commander Christine Vale, former head of Security aboard the Enterprise-E as Titans executive officer; Lieutenant Alyssa Ogawa, formerly of both the Enterprise-D and -E and chief nurse aboard Titan; as well as Commander Tuvok, whom the Titan rescues and who steps in as acting chief of security and tactical officer after Lieutenant Commander Ranul Keru, the officer previously in those positions, was incapacitated in battle. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Pocket Books, publishers of licensed Star Trek fiction, has announced plans to publish original novels featuring the Titan and her crew, and there is speculation that the Titan could someday be the focus of a future Trek film or TV series. Although Riker and Troi did appear in the final episode of ' in May 2005, no further information regarding the Titan was provided (their appearance was set during the time of , before Riker's promotion to Captain). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Although the Titan has not been seen on screen, it had been identified by Decipher, Inc. as a Prometheus class starship for their Star Trek Customizable Card Game. However, the editors of the "Titan" series of novels have said that readers will get the chance to submit their own designs for the Titan's class, which will appear on the cover of a forthcoming Titan novel. The Titan is designated in the novels as a 450-meter long Luna-class explorer, registry number NCC-80102, with state-of-the-art science facilities. It is notable that this ship has one of the most racially diverse crews in Starfleet; less than 15% of the Titans crew is human. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Recently, the final winner for the ship's design has been chosen: Sean Tourangeau of Colorado Springs, CO. His ship design will be featured in a pull-out section in a future Titan novel. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
