USS DeLong
Three ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS DeLong. The first two were named in honor of Lieutenant Commander George W. DeLong (1844–1881), an Arctic explorer. The third was named in honor of Marine Corporal Weldon F. DeLong (1916–1942), who was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his valor during the Battle of Guadalcanal.
