The first store opened in 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The original store focused on "funky" fashion in its clothes and household products. Today, the Urban Outfitters fashion line features the same tone, with "vintage", retro, ironically humorous, kitschy, and oddly designed apparel and furniture comprising the seasonal catalogues. The store also retails high profile and often expensive brands such as Nike, Puma, Diesel, the North Face, Ben Sherman, Fred Perry, Lacoste, among others.
