Unofficial Football World Championships
The Unofficial Football World Championships (UFWC) is a novel way of calculating the world's best football team, using a knock-out title system similar to that used in boxing.

The idea stems from some Scotland fans claiming that as they beat England(Champions of the 1966 World Cup) in England's first game after the tournament, they were the Unofficial World Champions.

Many years later, a website was created to show results of research triggered by this idea. The website was featured in respected football magazine FourFourTwo, which gained it extra publicity. It is not FIFA-sanctioned, nor indeed does it have any sort of official backing.
