University of Nebraska-Lincoln

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is a state-supported institution of higher learning located in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. Often referred to as simply Nebraska or UNL, it is the flagship and largest campus of the University of Nebraska system. UNL was founded in 1869 was a land-grant university under the provisions of the Morrill Act. The university has two Lincoln campuses: City Campus (directly north of and adjacent to downtown Lincoln) and East Campus (two miles northeast of City Campus). East Campus was originally purchased for use as the university farm.

City Campus

• Great Plains Art Collection: 1155 Q Street; in the Christlieb Gallery.
• Howell and Studio Theatres: 12th & R Streets; in the Temple Building. Home to the performances of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film.
• J.D. Edwards Honors Program: 630 N 14th Street. The honors program develops next-generation leaders in business and technology.
• Lied Center for Performing Arts: 12th & R Streets.
• Mary Riepma Ross Film Theater: 313 N 13th Street.
• Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery: 12th & R Streets.
• University of Nebraska State Museum: 14th & U Streets; in Morrill Hall. It is popularly known as "Elephant Hall".
• University of Nebraska Press has a strong program for publishing original works and reprints of significant works about he West. The "Bison Books" imprint is a series of high quality trade paperback editions of signififcant titles.

East Campus

• International Quilt Study Center: 234 Home Economics Building.
• Maxwell Arboretum: part of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum.
• UNL Dairy Store: offers a wide selection of premium dairy products.

Other

• For a few weeks in the 2004 fall semester, rocker Tommy Lee attended several classes at the university for the NBC television show Tommy Lee Goes to College.
