University of Mannheim
The University of Mannheim is one of the younger German universities. Though its roots go back to the Kurpfälzische Akademie der Wissenschaften of 1763, the actual university was founded in 1903 as college for economics. In the 1960s the university extended to the full university of today. Mannheim is a city in southwestern Germany with a population of nearly 300,000.

Today it has about 11,500 students. The university occupies large parts of the Mannheim castle, the world largest one of the baroque era, and some additional new-built lecture halls throughout the city. Some affiliated research institutes like the renowned "Centre for European Economic Research" (ZEW) and the "Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging" (MEA) are located on the campus.

The emphasis is still on business and economics. The business school is ranked as top in Germany and is accredited by AACSB and EQUIS.
